Urban Innovation and Design through Civic Engagement
Tuesday, November 9 3:30-5:00
How might you design with. Alamance residents and officials?
In this Better Together session, participants will explore opportunities to design with Burlington Mayor and Elon graduate Ian Baltutis. The environments of our cities and communities are shaped by many factors, but most importantly they are shaped by the people who call them home. In this session we'll explore the factors and forces that play out between residents and city leaders to design urban environments that meet the evolving needs of our society. We'll also dig into how the most successful communities lead this process with collaborative community involvement and input.

Boosting Your Resilience
Tuesday, December 9 3:30-5:00
How might you design your personal and professional life for resilience?
Stress has been labeled the global health epidemic of the 21st century. However, research from across sectors shows that intentional design practices that build social support systems, daily behaviors, and mental practices can foster your resilience - the ability to not only recover from setbacks, but adapt in the face of adversity.
In this Better Together session, you will get the chance to learn about the unique nature of stress and design practices alongside Alamance County residents so we can each respond more flexibly and creatively to the demands of daily life and work.
