The Advancement Director contributes significantly to the growth and sustainability of Alamance Arts (501c3) by serving as primary support for donors, annual giving, sponsors and newsletter/website correspondence. This 25 hour per week job reports to the Executive Director and is paid an hourly wage of $19.00.
Job Summary: Responsible for providing short and long term donor impacts through Alamance Arts organization's donor efforts, also referred to as “development activities.” Works with volunteers, board members and others to assist and/or lead in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement related activities. The Advancement Director contributes significantly to the growth and sustainability of Alamance Arts by serving as primary support for donors, annual giving, sponsors and newsletter/website correspondence.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
1. This role has significant responsibility for overseeing complex projects and relationships through development activities and marketing
2. Assist and/or lead short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising and donor goals and objectives
3. Responsible for maintaining accurate records and contacts in donor database
4. Stewards relationships with new and existing donors and helps create and manages the Monthly Donor Recognition and Stewardship & Marketing Calendar
5. Schedules and markets donor appreciation events, manage workshops, and lectures to coincide with stewardship program goals
6. Maintain files and records for assessment, trends and analysis
7. Carries out the administration of the donor database.
8. Develops promotion and recognition tools aimed at individual donors (website, print pieces, newsletter, email content, story/pic/video library, social media)
9. Works collaboratively across staff and affiliates on grant activities and provides support to the Executive Director on recognizing major gift donors.
10. Develops additional funding thru sponsorship or activities alongside the Fund Development committee and/or Fundraiser committee of the BOD.
11. Tracks activities in database and shared drive system
12. Keeps accurate records of engagement by the public
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Relationship oriented, positive attitude and ability to speak with confidence about Alamance Arts as it serves all community members.
Clear ability to express empathy through use of excellent oral and written communication, marketing and newsletter skills
Knowledge of social media outlets and same voice marketing
Knowledge of donor development skills and Alamance County culture
Highly attentive to detail and highly organized
Ability to create, sustain and foster relationships to meet both long term and short term mutual goals
Ability to create meaningful learning and giving experiences for visitors
Desirable Experience and Training:
• Bachelors Degree or alternative experience
• Relationship management experience
• Knowledge of contemporary art
• Public relations skills
• Writing and editing text for newsletter and website
• Experience in non-profit setting
• Confident presentation skills
• Experience in developing program ideas to implementation
• Photography experience
Physical Requirements:
• Must have visual acuity to be able to read and write
• Must be able to walk up two flights of stairs.
• Must be able to talk and hear in order to communicate effectively
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
Special Requirements
• Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license and be insurable by the agency’s insurance policy
• Must maintain an insurable status throughout employment
• Must have access to a dependable vehicle on a regular basis.
