Online Parent Resource for NC Families

Greetings,

We are currently still inviting families for our One Talk at a Time program at UNC Greensboro! One Talk at a Time is a free online program for African American, Asian American, and Latinx parents with middle schooler children (11-14 years old). It consists of short videos and handouts available for families to talk about difficult topics during adolescence. These topics may be around race and culture, adjusting to middle school, school and family relationships. Parents also have the opportunity to learn different coping skills to navigate these themes. Parents spend no more than 2 hours learning different strategies to strengthen their relationship with their middle schooler. Our videos are available in English and Spanish.

Parents and their children are compensated individually for their time for completing short surveys about our program to test its effectiveness. These are sent out every 3 months for a year. These surveys typically take families 30-40 minutes to complete. We have increased our compensation for $310 per family. We've since extended our deadline to early/mid March. Since it's online and remote, it is accessible anywhere in North Carolina.

We'd love to share our program with more parents who would be interested in learning more about how they can get involved! Interested parents can scan our QR code on our flyer, contact us by text/call at 336-701-2751, or sending us an email at onetalk@uncg.edu. One of our staff members will follow up with a brief call so you can take the steps to get started! Additionally, our flyer can be shared with others who may also be interested.

Any interested organizations who would like to connect and partner further can send us an email to onetalk@uncg.edu and our project manager Paula can follow up with more information! We've had success at tabling events and we're happy to speak with interested parents directly!
