Opportunity Lives Here
At United Way of Alamance County, we believe that the strength of our community is not just measured by our landmarks or our history, but by the doors we open for one another. This year, our theme is simple yet powerful: Opportunity Lives Here.
Our Opportunities Catalog is your roadmap to making a tangible difference. Whether you are a long-time supporter or looking to give for the first time, the catalog outlines exactly how your investment transforms lives right here in Alamance County.
Our Vision for Change
To create a thriving environment for every resident, we focus our efforts on four essential pillars:
- Youth Opportunity: Ensuring every child has the tools to succeed from cradle to career.
- Financial Security: Helping families move from financial instability to long-term independence.
- Healthy Community: Improving access to healthcare and wellness resources for all.
- Community Resiliency: Building a stronger, more adaptable county that can weather any storm.
Taking Action: Our Strategic Initiatives
While our pillars guide our mission, our daily work is concentrated on three critical focus areas designed to meet our neighbors' most urgent needs:
- Housing Alamance: We are researching, educating, and empowering our community to understand local eviction trends and advocate for housing stability. By engaging residents and stakeholders alike, we are building a foundation where every member of Alamance County has a safe place to call home.
- Feeding Alamance: No neighbor should wonder where their next meal is coming from. We are tackling food insecurity head-on by erasing school lunch debt, expanding access to local food resources, and ensuring that nutritious meals are within reach for every family in our community.
- Supporting Alamance: We empower our community from the ground up. This includes providing free tax preparation through our VITA Program, fostering collaboration via our annual Nonprofit Summit, and fueling local impact through Community Investment Grants. Beyond funding, we mobilize the spirit of service through quarterly volunteer projects that align directly with our core pillars.
Focused Investment: Community Investment Grants
We are proud to announce that our Community Investment Grants for this cycle will specifically target programs within the Youth Opportunity and Financial Security pillars. By narrowing our grant focus, we aim to create deep, systemic change that breaks the cycle of poverty and empowers the next generation of Alamance leaders.
Join the Movement: The 2026-2027 Campaign officially kicks off on September 19, 2026 at the Taste of Alamance. We invite you to join us for a season of giving that will run through March 2027.
Every dollar reflects a choice to invest in your neighbor.
Thank you for your commitment to Alamance County!
