Happy 211 Day!
You’ve heard of 911 and 411, but do you know 211?
211 is a vital service supported by United Way that connects millions of people to help every year. This free phone number is county-wide, state-wide and nation-wide resource hotline.
Almost 2,000 calls have been made to 211 in Alamance County alone in the past year-to-date. Every day, clients contact 211 to access free and confidential crisis and emergency counseling, disaster assistance, food, healthcare and insurance assistance, stable housing and utilities payment assistance, employment services, veteran services and childcare and family services. Call specialists are constantly updating their list of agencies to accurately refer people.
211 exemplifies United Way’s fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community. Call specialists do more than just “patch people through” to agencies. They are trained to identify underlying causes of situations and look for long-term solutions for each client. Our community is stronger when people can quickly and efficiently access the services they need.
