Be Fulfilled by Taste of Alamance Luncheon Speaker

Delaney Hinnant, United Way of Alamance County Intern, March 21, 2017

Taste of Alamance is an event the Alamance community doesn’t want to miss! On April 24th, 2017, delicious cuisines from all over the county will be put on display in one area with appetizers, Jason Brownentrées, and maybe a dessert or two to taste at you leisure, but one of the main attractions isn’t a dish at all. A special part of the Taste of Alamance experience is to enjoy a luncheon with an influential and meaningful keynote speaker. This year, Taste of Alamance is bringing the humble and inspirational Jason Brown to give an address to the participants at the luncheon.

Jason Brown is a former NFL player from Henderson, North Carolina. During his football career he played for the Baltimore Ravens and the St. Louis Rams spanning 6 years from 2005 to 2011. Although very successful, Jason was unfulfilled and wanted to live a life of service, so he walked away from a $37.5 million contract in 2012 in order to start a farm in Louisburg, North Carolina. This 1,000 acre farm is called the First Fruits Farm and is dedicated to giving away the entire first harvest of crops to local food banks and churches in the triangle area. Over 200,000 pounds of produce has been given away to aid in the hunger issues of eastern North Carolina and through his work with Wisdom for Life Ministries and First Fruit Farms, Jason and his wife Tay, are demonstrating how to live a life of purpose. Jason serves as a great example of community development through agriculture and will give a great speech at the 2017 Taste of Alamance Luncheon.

You can hear more of Jason’s story by going here but to see this great man in person, you must order tickets for the luncheon.
