“Accountability:  the obligation of an individual or organization to account for its activities, accept responsibility for them, and to disclose the results in a transparent manner.  It also includes the responsibility for money or other entrusted property.”

At our December meeting, both the 990 and Financial Statements for fiscal year ending June 30, 2016 were presented to our Board of Directors.  This culminates a year-long process in which we work very hard to ensure that we are recording and presenting our financial transactions with as much accuracy as possible.  It is not only our responsibility, but also our goal to always be the best stewards possible with dollars raised within and for our community.

Our audit is conducted by independent certified public accountants whose examination complies with generally accepted auditing standards.  In addition, United Ways have developed comprehensive requirements for completion of audited financial statements to ensure consistency and transparency system-wide. These standards help us to maintain our financials utilizing best practices and network benchmarks.

In order to help us with our accounting and financial procedures, we are very fortunate to have a finance committee made up of highly skilled professionals in Alamance County.  This group dedicates hours upon hours of time to be sure we are financially sound and diligent in our financial practices.

We are very pleased with the results of our latest audit and financials.  We have worked very hard over the past year to streamline processes and these changes have translated into a more efficient United Way!  We look forward to continued growth and success in the coming years.  Our success is most easily measured by the impact that we can make and are making in Alamance County.  We could not do it without your support and to you, we extend a heart-felt THANKS!
