StoryWalk Update

NPSW17It was just three months ago that Alamance County’s first ever StoryWalk® was celebrated with a kick-off at North Park in Burlington. The StoryWalk® at North Park already has a new book titled I Am Yoga that young people and families are enjoying.

StoryWalk® is, “an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you’re directed to the next page in the story” (1).

NPSW22We encourage you to visit the North Park StoryWalk® . And stay tuned– Alamance Partnership for Children will be getting the next StoryWalk® in their Outdoor Learning Environment sponsored by BB&T and Alamance Foundation.

The Education Division of Community Council  has set a goal of creating five StoryWalks® throughout the county and they are well on their way. If you are interested in becoming a host site or sponsor, please contact April Durr, Director of Community Impact at United Way of Alamance County.

NPSW11Thank you to Education Division of Community Council, Alamance County Public Libraries, BB&T, and Alamance Foundation for their continuous support of this important project.
