Now Accepting Applications for Volunteer Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for Alamance County’s 2017 Volunteer Service Awards.
Applications are found on the United Way website and are due Thursday, October 12 at 5:00 pm.
We are excited to announce that the Times-News will be again be featuring your nominees in the newspaper each week November through February as part of the “Celebrate Community” program; this is a great opportunity to highlight your volunteers and agency. This public recognition in the Times-News will serve to highlight the volunteer efforts and commitment, accomplishments, community impact, and enhancement of the lives of others.
The awards program, created in 1980, recognizes Alamance County’s most dedicated volunteers. Community Council’s Executive Committee will select up to five individuals, businesses, or groups/teams to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the Alamance County community. Award selections are based on the nominee’s: 1) volunteer efforts and commitment of time, 2) accomplishments, 3) community impact, and 4) enhancement of the lives of others, as described on the nomination form.
Winners will be honored with a $1,000 donation made to the non-profit of their choice (Courtesy of LabCorp). In addition, they will be nominated for the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award with one outstanding volunteer for the Governor’s Medallion Award (which is awarded to the top 20 volunteers in the state).
