Community Partner Spotlight: Women’s Resource Center
Women’s Resource Center was established in 1991 to empower women to be better versions of themselves and give them the resources to do so. Women from all backgrounds are served and come to the center with various needs. Those needs range from coaching or mentoring, networking opportunities, and business development. Women’s Resource Center also collaborates with Benevolence Farm to offer the most comprehensive services possible to their clients. They have created a Success ToolKit for their clients and we are able to assist in funding this program. Women’s Resource Center is a one stop-shop for any professional and networking needs someone may have.
Once a month, Women’s Resource Center has Working Women’s Wednesday. This is a luncheon networking event for women of Alamance County and each month has a different guest speaker. They also offer a Success Toolkit which helps women create a plan for self-sufficiency. These women could be at various stages of life such as victims of domestic violence, divorce, or job loss. Another program they offer is Women Connecting Women, a career management focus. Women can expect to receive assistance with résumés, cover letters, networking and interview skills.
The center offers specialty events all throughout the year. For example, they just hosted an Implicit Bias Training to help people better understand their own biases and in turn, learn how to address them. Most recently, they organized a hike for their members at Lake Mackintosh. Various workshops about finances and building self-esteem are also provided for members and nonmembers. We are proud to partner with an organization like Women’s Resource Center that is providing much needed services for the community!
